Doing the Impossible for Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity

Building a modest sized home can take four to five months on average, under ideal conditions.  But today’s unforgiving market is driven by record high demand.  Builders are facing production scarcity, labor shortages, and shipping delays, all of which can cause build times to be pushed weeks or even months longer.  To build an entire home, from foundation to roof in just seven days, in today’s volatile market, is truly to do the impossible.  But that’s a challenge Stevens Fine Homes accepted by participating in Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity’s 2021 Builder Blitz Event!

The Builder Blitz constructed two new homes in record time, fulfilling the dream of homeownership for Habitat for Humanity participant Terri Johnson.  Local builders volunteer to construct a home for the project, while Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity acquires the land, develops the sites, and provides house plans and permits.  The builders provide the labor, funding, and materials.  Our construction team spent months planning for this carefully choreographed, round-the-clock, build-a-thon, which began Friday, June 4 and ended Friday, June 11.  Homes transformed from a bare foundation to a finished, move-in-ready home in just SEVEN days!

We believe one of the greatest goals one can achieve is to realize the dream of homeownership.  Stevens Fine Homes is proud to partner with Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity in that endeavour, helping make that dream come true for deserving local families.  We could not do it without the support of our trade sponsors:  A&E Construction, Carolina Comfort Air, Inc., CK Trim, Coastal Glass and Hardware, Inc., David Paint and Drywall, Inc., Down to Earth, Kontalonis Construction, Markraft Cabinets, Inc., Michael Long Roofing, Midas Touch, Professional Builders Supply, Tamko, Tatum Insulation, Thornton’s Plumbing, Inc., and Top Shelf Waste Systems.
