Building Green

At Stevens Fine Homes, we care about energy efficiency which is why all of the homes we build are Energy Star Certified. Each of our homes may, in addition, be upgraded to a GREEN home.

Energy Star Certified

All of the homes that we build are Energy Star Certified Homes. To earn the ENERGY STAR rating, a home must meet guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20% more efficient than standard homes. Factors such as effecitve insulation, high-performance windows, tight construction and ducts, effective heating and cooling equipment, efficient products & third party verification all contribute to a more energy efficient home.

Upgrade to a NAHB Green Home

In addition to all of our homes being Energy Star Certified, buyers may upgrade to build a GREEN home. Our GREEN homes are NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) Bronze certified and include the following:

  • Recycling waste materials during construction.
  • Using Energy Star Rated windows, appliances & sealed mechanical ducts.
  • Installing motion sensors on outdoor lighting.
  • Using water-efficient sinks & aerators.
  • Installing "Green Label" carpeting.
  • Using Low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) indoor paints.
